Resonators Guide (Post Banlist 5/2025)

Resonators Guide (Post Banlist 5/2025)

So Konami is playing big again ...

They gave us Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss with omni negate . They also gave us Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend with floating effect .
But there's more...
Komoney throws out the Crimson Resonator with search and resurrection abilities, and the Soul Resonator with search and protection abilities .

Now let's get straight to the point: what does this deck do?

I know I'm a little late , meaning this guide came out when Resonators were already nerfed and banned. But that's okay, they're still going strong and I'm here to write about Resonators Post Banlistttt

You can only use this Skill's second and third effects once per Duel. 1: You cannot Normal or Special Summon any monsters, except Synchro Monsters and Level 5 or lower Dragon/Fiend monsters. 2: Send 1 card from your hand and 1 card you control to the Graveyard, then play 1 Level 8 "Red Dragon Archfiend" monster from your Extra Deck in face-down Defense Position. (Its battle position can be changed.) 3: If you control "Red Nova Dragon" or only your opponent controls a monster, Set 1 "Fiendish Chain" from your hand or Deck. (This card can be activated the same turn.)

"Witness why I am the True Dragon!!" (Witness Why I Am Known As True King)

The Skill name sounds very powerful, but compared to the other Skills in the current meta, this Skill is not too imba, but is okay to support the Resonators Deck. (If this Deck had more fancy skills, the game would probably be over)

In this tutorial, instead of listing the cards, translating the effects of the cards and adding how to play, I will write in the style of a Deck Build tutorial and then show you how to combo (how to play)!

Deck Building Guide

Now, the deck doesn't necessarily have to have 30 cards , but this deck is so stable that 30 cards still allows us to play very smoothly , while adding all the staple cards we want .

So now I'll go through the list of cards in the Deck :

Soul Resonator (x2)

  • ATK:

  • 500

  • DEF:

If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can add 1 Level 4 or lower Fiend monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Soul Resonator", also you cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck for the rest of this turn, except DARK Synchro Monsters. If a card(s) you control would be destroyed by card effect, while you control "Red Dragon Archfiend" or a Synchro Monster that mentions it, you can banish this card from your GY instead. You can only use each effect of "Soul Resonator" once per turn.

2 Soul Resonators are enough in most cases.
With Resonator Call and Crimson Gaia , we have up to 8 ways to find Soul .

Vision Resonator and Crimson Resonator (x3)

If a Level 5 or higher DARK monster is on the field, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). You can only Special Summon "Vision Resonator" once per turn this way. If this card is sent to the GY: You can add 1 Spell/Trap that mentions "Red Dragon Archfiend" from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Vision Resonator" once per turn.

If you control no monsters: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. If the only other monster you control is exactly 1 DARK Dragon Synchro Monster: You can Special Summon up to 2 "Resonator" monsters from your hand or Deck, except "Crimson Resonator". You can only use each effect of "Crimson Resonator" once per turn. You cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck, except DARK Dragon Synchro Monsters, the turn you activate either of this card's effects.

3 Crimson Resonators and 3 Vision Resonators
Because both can special summon themselves at the same time, it helps increase stability very well.

If this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can target 1 "Resonator" monster in your Graveyard, except "Synkron Resonator"; add it to your hand.

1 Synchron Resonator and 1 Red Resonator

If this card is in your hand or GY: You can send 1 other card from your hand or field to the GY; Special Summon this card, also you cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck for the rest of this turn, except DARK Dragon Synchro Monsters. You can target 1 face-up monster you control that has a Level; send 1 Fiend Tuner from your hand or Deck to the GY, and if you do, increase or decrease that monster's Level by 1. You can only use each effect of "Bone Archfiend" once per turn.

3 Bone Archfiend
→ It's obvious because it's the main link in the combo.

Target 1 monster on the field with 2000 or more ATK; banish it (until the End Phase of the next turn), then if you activated this card while you controlled "Red Dragon Archfiend" or a Synchro Monster that mentions it, you can Set 1 "Fiendish Chain" directly from your Deck or GY.

        1 Fiendish Golem , 1 Fiendish Chain , and 1 Scarlet Security
→ Because all three can be searched and reused , no need to play much.

Send any number of other cards from your hand and/or field to the GY; choose that many Effect Monsters your opponent controls, and until the end of this turn, their ATK is halved, also their effects are negated. In response to this card's activation, your opponent cannot activate cards, or the effects of cards, with the same original type (Monster/Spell/Trap) as the cards sent to the GY to activate this card. You can only activate 1 "Forbidden Droplet" per turn.

          Tag(s):

          Now it's the Staples' turn.

          Forbidden Droplet

→ Very suitable because it can be combined with Crimson Gaia or Fiendish Chain for a cost of throwing it to the grave

During your opponent's Main Phase (Quick Effect): You can send this card from your hand to the GY, then target 1 Effect Monster your opponent controls; negate the effects of that face-up monster your opponent controls, until the end of this turn.

          3 Effect Veiler , 1 DD Crow , and 1 Skull Meister
I used to use 2 Crows, but then I saw that Skull Meister can be searched with Soul Resonator , so I switched to using 1 Skull because it would be a waste not to play it.

Red Rising Dragon is the only Extra Deck card that can be played x2 , because the Combo needs to be used again the next turn .

          First Combo

          Combo simulator: Updating...

The simplest and most common combo you will perform with this deck is as follows:
          1. Normal Summon Soul Resonator , which will allow you to add Bone Archfiend from your deck to your hand (since Soul Resonator can search for a level 4 or lower Fiend-type monster.)

          2. Bone Archfiend has the effect: discard 1 card from hand or send 1 card on the field to the graveyard to special summon itself.

In most cases you will be dropping 1 tuner , preferably the Crimson Resonator if you have it on hand.
However, you can also discard Fiendish Golem or Fiendish Chain if you have them in hand – for reasons I'll explain later.

          3. From here, you will activate the effect of Bone Archfiend :
Choose 1 monster you control with a star number ,
Send 1 Fiend tuner from your hand or deck to the graveyard ,
→ Then increase or decrease the level of the selected monster by 1 .

→ You will choose Soul Resonator to turn it into level 2 ,
→ Send i Crimson Resonator from your deck to the graveyard if you didn't send it when you summoned Bone.

          4. Synchro Summon Red Rising Dragon , then use its effect to summon Crimson Resonator from the graveyard .

          5. Since you only control 1 Dark Dragon Synchro , you can activate the effect of C rimson Resonator to special summon up to 2 Resonators from your hand or deck :
→ Summons Vision Resonator and Synchron Resonator .

          6. Use Red Rising + Vision to Synchro into Scar Red Dragon Archfiend .
Vision Resonator will now activate the effect in the grave:
→ Find a Spell/Trap that mentions Red Dragon Archfiend – you would choose Crimson Gaia .

          7. Use Scar Dragon + Synchron Resonator to Synchro into the new boss of Resonator:
Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss – has the ability to negate once per turn .

          8. Since Scar Dragon is sent from the Monster zone to the graveyard, you can activate the effect:
Summon 1 Red Dragon Archfiend from the Extra Deck .

          9. Also, activate Synchron Resonator 's effect in the graveyard to add Vision Resonator back from the graveyard to your hand .

          10. Special Summon Vision Resonator from hand , then Synchro into Red Nova Dragon using RDA + 2 remaining tuners on the field.

          11. Activate Witness Why I Am Known As True King to set Fiendish Chain from your hand or deck to the field because you control Red Nova Dragon .

          12. Remember that Crimson Gaia spell you found earlier? Now's the time to use it:
Find RDA or any card that mentions RDA from the deck or graveyard to your hand .
→ In this case, you would choose Fiendish Golem – which can remove 1 monster with ATK of 2000 or more until the end of the next turn .

          13. Additionally, when activated, Crimson Gaia will set 1 Fiendish Chain from your deck or graveyard if you control an RDA or Synchro that mentions it.

          14. Not only that , Crimson Gaia also helps increase stability because it can summon 1 RDA from the grave if any card on the field is destroyed.
→ The “RDA” here can be the original Red Dragon Archfiend , Scar Dragon , or Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend , as all three are considered RDAs when on the field or graveyard.

          Alternative Combo

          Combo simulator: Updating...

The next combo I'm going to talk about was originally used to do the Void Ogre Dragon summon play. It's no longer done that way because of the Limit r.
However , I still think this is a good way to counter your opponent's disruption effects and summon an extra level 8 Synchro if you want.
So, consider this as an alternative combo , especially when going after

Combo requirement: you need to have Crimson Resonator and Bone Archfiend on hand, or have a way to find both without using a normal summon.

Since this is turn two, you will start by activating the ability to set Fiendish Chain from your deck .

But wait, how to activate the skill without controlling Red Nova Dragon?

The ability allows you to set Fiendish Chain from your deck if you control Red Nova Dragon or if your opponent has a monster on the field . And it can be activated immediately so don't waste a good tool like this.

          Back to the combo:

          1. Special summon Crimson Resonator since you control no monsters.

          2. Normal Summon Bone Archfiend , then Synchro into Red Rising Dragon .

          3. Red Rising activates , summoning Crimson Resonator from the grave .

          4. Activate Crimson's effect to summon 2 tuners from the deck :

            • Instead of calling Vision and Synchron like the old combo, this time you call Vision Resonator and Soul Resonator

            • Or you can call Red Resonator and Soul Resonator to target Red Rising and restore 2100 LP (equal to its ATK).

Assuming you choose Red Resonator and Soul Resonator , the next sequence is:

          1. Activate Soul Resonator's effect when special summoned , find Synchron Resonator from deck .

          2. Use Red Rising + Red Resonator to Synchro into Dark End Dragon (previously used to call Void Ogre Dragon ):

            • Dark End Dragon can remove monsters from the field without destroying them – very useful when going later

          1. Activate Bone Archfiend effect in grave :

            • Can be summoned from the graveyard by discarding a card or sending a card from the field to the graveyard – just as if it were in the hand.

          2. When recalling Bone, target Soul Resonator , send Vision Resonator from deck to graveyard :

            • Reduce Soul level to 2

            • Activate Vision Resonator 's effect in the grave to find Crimson Gaia .

            • Also, keep Vision cool, because you'll need it later.

          1. Use Bone + Soul to Synchro 1 more Red Rising Dragon , then recall any level 2 Resonator in the grave .

          2. Activate the next part of the skill :

          • Send 1 card from your hand and Red Rising from the field to the graveyard , to summon Scar Red Dragon Archfiend from the Extra Deck .

          1. Use Scar + the remaining 2 tuners to Synchro into Red Nova Dragon .

            • Since Scar is off the field, you can call Red Dragon Archfiend from the Extra Deck .

          2. Special Summon Synchron Resonator from hand , then use Synchron + RDA to Synchro into Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss .

And that completes your combo, setting up a powerful arena.
You have Red Nova Dragon , Abyss negate , Crimson Gaia on hand , and disruption tools like Fiendish Chain ready to use.

          Some notes about Deck

          When going next turn

We have Scarlet Security , a spell that allows us to destroy the entire backrow of our opponent if we control a Red Dragon Archfiend (RDA) .

A simple way to take advantage of this is to start with Crimson Gaia :

          1. Activate Crimson Gaia to find Scarlet Security from the deck.

          2. Then activate the skill :

            • Discard the least important card in hand

            • Send Crimson Gaia from the field to the graveyard to summon 1 RDA to the field .

          3. Once you have RDA on the field, you can activate Scarlet Security to destroy all of your opponent's Spells/Traps .

Typically, you would choose to summon Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend because:

          • It considers itself as RDA , so it can still enable Scarlet Security .

          • More importantly, Scarlet has 3000 ATK , and has an effect that destroys all special summoned effect monsters with lower ATK than it .

Meaning: you destroy the entire backrow , then destroy all the opponent's monstersbefore you even actually start the combo .

The effect of Crimson Gaia also allows for retrieving the cards it searched from the deck but this time from the GRAVE :

          • This effect is extremely important because it helps to restore resources (loop) .

          • That's why you don't mind giving up Fiendish Golem , because you can get it back that turn with Crimson Gaia .

          • Likewise, you would n't mind dropping the Fiendish Chain either:

            • Although it cannot be found by Crimson Gaia , it can be reset from the grave by Fiendish Golem , and the Golem can be retrieved by Crimson Gaia. Resource recovery loop.

          About hand trap resistance:

          • Crimson Gaia 's second effect is very useful against Draw & Lock Bird :

            • When your opponent adds a card from their deck to their hand on any turn → you can discard Crimson Gaia from your hand .

            • Then, neither player can add cards from the deck to their hand until the end of their turn.

            • However, it is still possible to add cards from the grave with Crimson Gaia , since it is another sourcestill maintaining the combo.

          A little tip:

          • Soul Resonator can find Skull Meister when it is normally or special summoned . ( Since Soul can find Fiend monsters level 4 or lower , it is possible to skip Bone Archfiend if it is already there, and take Skull Meister to negate the grave .)

          • Skull Meister is a hand trap that helps disable activated effects from the grave → very flexible.

A small warning for anyone facing Resonators:

          • When Scar Dragon (Scarlet) is used as Synchro material for a Dragon - Darkness card , its effect will:

            • Destroy all of your opponent's attack monsters .

So: if you're facing Resonator , summon a defense position (DEF) monster if possible.
If you don't, good luck , because you're about to lose the whole field....
