Dracotail Gameplay Guide

Dracotail Gameplay Guide

Dracotail is a control deck that uses resources from your hand and spells/traps. It can play during your opponent's turn, search for Kaiju, play many handtraps, and disrupt fusion. It even has up to four fusion cards: one branded fusion (a ching chong version), one fusion when your opponent has a monster, one fusion on your opponent's turn, and one fusion on your opponent's turn that can also be used as a material.

These units also set spell/trap abilities when used as fusion materials. Spell/trap abilities restore resources, so they have very strong resource control and poke capabilities.

Sections covered in this guide:

CORE

I'll list the general points here, and then I won't say anything more below to keep the article concise and easy to read.

General effect of the monster: When sent to the graveyard as material for a Fusion Summon, you can set 1 Dracotail spell/trap card from your deck to the field (this will be less disruptive for some other monsters; I will mention those cards in the section on those cards).

General effect of Trap: Pick up 1 Dracotail monster/spell/trap card from the graveyard or banish it to the bottom of the deck, except for cards with the same name as the activated trap card, then draw 1

General effect of Fusion monsters from the Extra Deck: When two monsters are sent to the graveyard at the same time, while the monsters are in the graveyard, you can send this card from the graveyard to the field (but it is banished when it leaves the field).

Fusion is a quick effect with the cost of discarding yourself (so you can't use yourself for fusion materials). But because it can be used from your hand, you can fuse during the enemy's turn to disrupt their combo, especially during choke points or when about to face a boss/negate.

Dracotail Mululu (x3)

It has the ability to fuse quick effects like the card above, but it must be on the field to fuse. However, because this card doesn't cost anything to activate its effect, it can be used as a fusion material. Having this card on the field is extremely annoying; every time you target it, it activates its effect and fuses, dodging the target.

Branded Fusion sponsors this program.

from Branded Fusion , sending this card down = full Dracotail combo!

This card is also quite strong on the field; it jumps back to the Dracotail monster's grave, then pushes another monster you're controlling back to your hand, and can pull back a few monsters like... Mululu (enemy fusion turn) or Lukias (search card combo) and 69 other dark magic types

Urgula x2-3: Also has the spell/trap Dracotail effect like the others, but with the bonus of shooting spells/traps to poke the enemy's resources. Has the ability to super-recharge, pushing itself from the graveyard to the bottom of the deck, then picking up one Spellcaster Dracotail monster from the graveyard to your hand. Usually you'll pick up one of these monsters. Faimena to fuse during your opponent's turn.

Pan : x1-2 :   Dracotail also has the same spell/trap set effect as the others, but with the added bonus of shooting monsters to chip away at the enemy's resources. Its effect in the graveyard is a bit difficult to use, but it's helpful when your Fusion monster is destroyed by an enemy card effect (punching, banishing, sending, shuffling, returning, etc., are all unusable, which is a shame). However, you can move this card from the graveyard to the bottom of your deck and summon one Dracotail monster from the graveyard (not a Fusion monster). Mululu to use the opponent's fusion turn or Lukias to search for the backup card next turn, or Phryxul to optimize resources

Search for Dracotail from your deck to your hand, making sure to summon three copies to increase deck stability. If your opponent has a monster, you can fuse by using materials from your hand or deck to summon any Dragon or Spellcaster monster from your Extra Deck. This effect is especially useful on turn 2, after your opponent has negated. Branded Fusion and Rahu Dracotail

Fusion Dracotail monsters from your deck are created using 1 material from your hand/field or deck (only 1 monster from your deck can be used, unlike Branded Fusion which uses 2).

After that, Lock can only summon Fusion from the Extra Deck.

They all share the same effect of restoring inventory after use, each card has a different function: banish, negate, and push monsters away.

The advantage is that you can retrieve cards from the graveyard or banish them, and then draw one after controlling with backrow. If you're lucky enough to draw a handtrap or Femina , your opponent will have a hard time.

Chad can push cards from the graveyard or the field of both players; you can pick up anything, including handtraps, into your hand.

It has auto-dance like other Fusion characters, and you can bring Xyz to avoid being banished when leaving the field (if you have the time like me).

Bantumlum (the other one is a ground type, so its earth-type avatars are very effective against stun enemies, while this one has water-type avatars that are very effective against both stun enemies and Atlanteans)

Since the deck controls with backrow and handtraps, bring as many handtraps as possible (but don't bring too many or you'll brick it; these monsters can fuse with monsters in your hand, for example Ash Blossom , so you only need to worry if you have too many spells/traps).

Brick is a weak card, but if paired with Dracotail, it can kick Crowley from the graveyard into your hand, so it can still struggle if your starting hand is Crowley , and can be switched to Dracotail thanks to Heavenly Spheres .

Dragon + Spellcaster is a good combination.

Secreterion Dragon : High attack power, floods enemy monsters with the effect of Dragon or Witch monsters specially summoned, and resets row 2 monsters (1 to field, 1 to bottom of deck).

Mysterion : Extremely powerful field clearing ability. Specifically: if the enemy team activates a monster effect that allows the monster to jump itself or a monster of the same Type (Original Type), you can choose one of the monsters that were special summoned and banish that monster, then banish all monsters of the same Type on the field.
