Instructions for building and playing Dinos
It looks like March Madness is coming up and I thought I might as well have a crazy theme. Um, I've also written quite a few articles about animals, dragons, and lolis, so today I think I should change things up and go back to prehistoric times a bit... Yes, today I will write about dinosaurs! !! Or to be more precise, the Dino card line has been making waves for a while on the top tier tables of tournaments in TCG, OCG,...
overview

How will the Dino s series play? Typically, Dino s revolves around interactions between the Souleating Oviraptor , Miscotaurus, Babycerasaurus , Petiteranodon , and the more recent Animadorned Archosaur . In addition to them, Dinos' boss is encapsulated in the Ultimate Conductor Tyranno , and is said to be one of the strongest single beasts ever printed.
There have been many ways to play Dino s over the years, until now it has generally been known to be great at getting behind and tearing up the field like no one's business. However, over the years, Dino s have received a lot of indirect support, and new builds and combos have been discovered, making Dino s one of the most diverse in terms of variations. Whatever you want to do, Dino 's can do it. Do you want to destroy the yard in the sun? Dino 's can do that. Do you want to summon some of the most broken cards in the game? Dino 's can do that. Do you want to FTK your opponents so they don't even have a chance to play? Dino 's can do that. Synchros? XYZ? Link? Dino s can do it all, which makes the deck one of the most difficult to write guides for ever.
The most popular way to play it on Master Duel is definitely with the Scrap engine, which gives it access to powerful Level 8 Synchros like Borreload Savage Dragon and more Rank 4 Xyz like the dinosaur-exclusive Evolzar Laggia , plus more. more interaction into the opening play of the deck, without subtracting any of the things that make a standard pure Dino s deck so good to play.

Core Dinos
Souleating Oviraptor (2x)
When normal or special summoned, Oviraptor takes any of your Dinoes out of the Deck, either by adding them to your hand or sending them to the GY. Its second effect can revive a Dino from the GY by killing another dino on the field, perfect for activating your Baby and Peti's effects. Just make sure not to revive it with a Baby you just destroyed, or you won't be able to use its effect. Oviraptor can also turn on a Dino your opponent controls, which is important for Lost World interactions or mirror matchups.
Miscellaneousaurus (3x)
Miscel's hand effect allows you to drop it to GY to protect your dinosaurs (on the field) from your opponent's activated card effects. Discarding it also allows you to quickly bring it to the GY to use its second effect, allowing you to banish any number of dinosaurs (including itself) from the GY to summon 1 Dino from your deck with lvl equal to the number of dinosaurs you banished.
Petiteranodon and Babycerasaurus (Each card is 3x)
Baby and Peti are the keys to the Dino deck. The majority of your cards will include effects that destroy Dinoes on the field, hand, or even the entire Deck. This is the kids' playground, because whenever they are destroyed by a card effect, they summon a Dino from the deck. Baby summons dinosaurs of level 4 or lower, while Peti will summon dinosaurs of level 4 or higher.
Ultimate Conductor Tyranno (2x)
This is your boss, arguably one of the strongest in the game, and it has a huge impact on your deck, sometimes helping you win the match through OTK. You can special summon UCT from your hand by banishing 2 Dinosaurs from your GY. While UCT is on the field, during the player's Main Phase, you can activate a quick effect that resolves to destroy 1 monster from your hand or field to change as many monsters as your opponent controls. into a face-up Defense position as possible. During combat, UCT can attack all monsters your opponent controls once, and if UCT attacks a monster in a defensive position, UCT can activate an effect that sends that monster to GY and deals 1000 damage to the opponent.
Animadorned Archosaur (2-3x)
Animadorned is the glue of the deck, a card that when summoned can destroy a dinosaur on the field or in your hand (for the purposes of this deck) to add a Double Evolution Pill from the deck to your hand. Being lvl 1 itself is important for a multitude of reasons, mainly because it makes Animadorned easily accessible to Miscel's effects.
Dinowrestler Pankratops (1x)
Pankratops is a great card in Dino . Usually it's just a second tech with 2600 ATK that can be special summoned from the hand if your opponent controls more monsters and can sacrifice itself as a quick effect to destroy any opponent cards. Your player controls. In this deck, Pankratops is not only searchable with Souleating Oviraptor 's effect, but can also be quickly summoned to the field with Petit's effect or with your Double Evolution Pill , making Pankratops not only great to go after but also as part of a good combo when going first. 1 copy is enough.
Core Spell
Lost World (3x)
Lost World offers a lot for the dinosaurs. First, all monsters on the field that are not Dinosaur-type will lose 500 ATK and DEF. Second, if a Dinosaur-type monster is summoned to the field, it can summon 1 “ Jurraegg Token ” to your opponent's side of the field. While they control 1 Token, your opponent cannot target any monsters on the field with card effects, except tokens, which are great for protecting your dinosaurs from targeting effects . Finally, if the normal monster(s) on the field (such as “ Juraegg Token ”) are destroyed by card effects, you can destroy the dinosaur(s) from your deck, such as Babycerasaurus .
Extra Deck required
A common question is what cards are required to be played in a Dino set? While not every variant necessarily plays the following cards, you will see 5-6 of these cards in almost every build list, with a few exceptions.
Evolzar Dolkka and Evolzar Laggia (The Evolzars)
Some of the most broken XYZ monsters ever printed. Both can only be created using 2 Level 4 Dinosaurs.
- Laggia can separate the two materials to negate the summoning of monsters, or any magic or traps, such as Solemn Judgment .
- Dolkka can detach 1 material to negate any monster effect and destroy that monster, specifically not once per turn or chain.
Pentestag and Number 60: Dugares the Timeless (OTK support)
Both of these cards are important for OTKing with Ultimate Conductor Tyranno .
- Dugares can be used to increase UCT up to 7000 ATK with its 3rd effect.
- Pentestag can allow the UCT to deal armor-piercing damage when it is pointed at the UCT.
Linkuriboh and Secure Gardna (Resources for Double Evolution Pill)
This small Package is used to quickly place a non-Dinosaur monster in your GY. You can link to Linkuriboh using Animadorned Archosaur , then you can link Secure Gardna to Linkuriboh . This now places a non-Dinosaur monster in your GY to be banished with the Double Evolution Pill .
Techs
Dogoran the Mad Flame Kaiju (1-2x)
This particular Kaiju has been added to Main Deck and Side Deck techs consistently over the years for Dinos , simply because Souleating Oviraptor is searchable for it. Being able to deal with some of the hardest cards to deal with in Master Duel like Number 59: Crooked Cook without being able to be destroyed in combat is definitely something worth considering for most Dinos players.
Pot of Prosperity (3x)
One of the best consistent cards you can add to any 2-card combo deck. If you are missing a card in your combo, use Pot to find it. Dinos in general will have a lot of ED cards that you can comfortably discard without much concern, especially in pure builds, so this is a must-pick in almost every Dinos list.
Called by the Grave (2x)
This card helps protect your combo, while your Dinosaurs on the field may be protected from card effects activated by your opponent by Miscel, your Dinosaurs in the GY will not be. Called by the Grave is great at ensuring you complete combos by using it to negate your opponent's discarded handtraps, and is also a great piece of interaction with your final set if your opponent you don't have a handtrap for you.
Survival's End (0-2x)
Survival's End has spent most of its life as a side deck tech to deal with decks that summon a lot of tokens like Mecha Phantom Beast Auroradon or against Eldlich (which summons a bunch of normal trap monsters). Use its on-field effect to send your opponent backwards. However, this is not the only use for Survival's End , as it can be used as a great disruption card in the GY. Using cards to send it to GY like Foolish Burial Goods or Paleozoic Marrella can provide solid interaction and can also start your Deck by killing a Babycerasaurus or Petiteranodon .
Engine needed for Dinos
Because the deck has no numbers or limits, Dino 's has been played with many different engines over the years. Dino s by no means covers all options, but we will try to present the most suitable and popular options for Master Duel here.
Scrap Wyvern, Scrap Raptor and Scrap Chimera (Srcap Engine)
By far the most popular engine to play, Scrap provides a lot of extra play to the deck, mainly because Scrap Raptor is a level 4 Dinosaur Tuner. This engine makes the deck more combo-oriented and helps The deck adds powerful meta-appropriate cards like Borreload Savage Dragon and Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess to your final deck (both of which are mandatory to include in the deck if you want to play this engine).
Simorgh, Bird of Sovereignty, Reprodocus and Barrier Statue of the Stormwinds (Simorgh Engine)
A very small package used to create a very easy to use "auto win" in Wind Barrier Statue. Reprodocus can fool the Simorgh link by making anything it points to a Winged-Beast. When supported by your UCT, it can be a very difficult deck for most decks to crack without specific tech.
True King Lithosagym, the Disaster, True King of All Calamities and Dragonic Diagram (True King Engine)
While this engine has been mostly abandoned by modern Dino s lists, that doesn't take away from the possibilities it can add to your deck. Engine can be used as a starter or extender for your dinosaur deck, and if you resolve a deck by destroying 2 EARTH monsters like Babycerasaurus or Petiteranodon , then you can banish 3 monsters as well out of your opponent's Extra Deck, which can sometimes end the game quickly. If that's not enough, this engine also helps provide access to True King of All Calamities , one of the most powerful cards in MD, as True King is at level 9.
Denglong, First of the Yang Zing, Jurrac Aeolo and Nine Pillars of Yang Zing (Yang Zing Engine)
A powerful engine, often used with Jurrac Aeolo as a level 1 tuner, adding a few potential bricks in exchange for some very strong interactions in finding some counter traps. With some other Yang Zing cards, you can also float your Yang Zing into Herald of the Arc Light after using Nine Pillars. But this also comes at the cost of adding more tiles, as most Yang Zing cards aren't very useful in your hand.
Synchronous/Linkro Engine
A very consistent and flexible engine, commonly used through Jurrac Aeolo as a level 1 tuner, can turn many of your cards into 1 or 1.5 card combos and provide access to some powerful Synchros best in games like Borreload Savage Dragon and Herald of the Arc Light while also offering many card lines like True King of All Calamities . This engine can be used for so many different purposes, and as such, Dinos has a bit of an identity crisis, as those who play it can't seem to come to a conclusion about what's best to use: v
Some sample Decks
Some sample combos
Not every combo and its variation will be listed below, these are just some introductory example combos you can make.
Combo 2 there
This will be what you need for a standard 2-card combo: Baby + Miscel/ Souleating Oviraptor / Animadorned Archosaur OR Miscel + Souleating Oviraptor .
For example, in your hand you have Babycerasaurus + Miscellaneosaurus
- Activate Miscel in hand, then use its GY effect to summon Animadorned Archosaur
- When summoned, activate Animadorned Archosaur 's effect to destroy Baby in hand and add Double Evolution Pill .
- With Babycerasaurus 's effect destroyed, summon Souleating Oviraptor
- When summoned, activate Souleating Oviraptor 's effect to add Babycerasaurus to your hand.
- Normal Summon the added Babies and use Souleating Oviraptor 's second effect to destroy the new Babies and summon old Babies from your GY. (In Master Duel, the newest card in the GY will always be on the left, so when using Oviraptor's effect, summon the rightmost larger Baby)
- With Babycerasaurus ' effect just destroyed, summon the level 4 or lower Dinosaur needed for your combo.
Ultimate Conductor Tyranno, Evolzar Laggia and Secure Gardna (Pure combo 1)
On the field there will be UCT + Rank 4 + Secure Gardna
- Perform a standard 2-card Combo, summon Miscel at the end (it can be any level 4 Dino, but Miscel is to prepare for the next turn)
- Link out to Linkuriboh with Animadorned Archosaur (if you don't already have one), then Link out to Secure Gardna with Linkuriboh .
- Overlay Oviraptor and Miscel to the Rank 4 you desire. In general, Evolzar Laggia is the strongest.
- Activate the Double Evolution Pill to banish Linkuriboh and the Animadorned Archosaur (or any other Dinos) to summon Ultimate Conductor Tyranno
Pure combo 2
On the field there will be Simorgh + Wind Barrier Statue + Rank 4 + UCT
By adding a few ED slots for Reprodocus and Simorgh, Bird of Sovereracy , you can add Barrier Statue of the Stormwinds to your final deck in this pure Dinos combo.
By adding a few ED slots for Reprodocus and Simorgh, Bird of Sovereracy , you can add Barrier Statue of the Stormwinds to your final deck in this pure Dinos combo.
- Perform a standard 2-card Combo, summoning Giant Rex as the final step. You also need to make sure to summon the old Babycerasaurus or Giant Rex in the same column as the Extra Monster Zone.
- Link Linkuriboh with Animadorned Archosaur (if you don't have one already), then Link Reprodocus with Linkuriboh and Giant Rex or Babycerasaurus so that when Reprodocus is summoned, it will point at Giant Rex or Babycerasaurus
- Use Reprodocus 's first effect to make the monster it points to become a Winged-Beast, then Link Simorgh, Bird of Sovereignty using that Reprodocus and Winged-Beast.
- Use the Double Evolution Pill by banishing Giant Rex and Linkuriboh to summon Ultimate Conductor Tyranno
- Because it has been banished, Special summon Giant Rex back to the field with its effect. Now, overlay Giant Rex and Souleating Oviraptor into Evolzar Laggia.
- During EP, use Simorgh's effect to Special Summon Barrier Statue of the Stormwind s from your Hand or Deck.
Scrap Wyvern, Scrap Raptor and Scrap Chimera (Scrap Combo)
On the field will be Apollousa + Borrel Savage + Laggia + UCT
- Perform a standard 2-card Combo, summoning Scrap Raptor in the final step.
- Linki Linkuriboh with Animadorned Archosaur (if you don't have one already), then Link Scrap Wyvern with Linkuriboh and Scrap Raptor
- Use Scrap Wyvern 's first effect to summon Scrap Raptor from your GY to the field, then destroy Scrap Raptor when resovle the effect.
- When performing step 3, you will activate both the effects of Scrap Wyvern and Scrap Raptor . With the effect of Scrap Raptor , add Scrap Chimera from your deck to your hand. With Scrap Wyvern 's effect special summon another Scrap Raptor from your Deck and destroy Babycerasaurus on your field.
- When Baby is destroyed, Special Summon another Baby from the Deck.
- Use Scrap Raptor 's first effect to gain an additional Normal Summon of 1 Scrap by destroying Babycerasaurus
- When Baby is destroyed, Special Summon Giant Rex from your Deck.
- Normal summon Chimera and use its effect to summon Raptor from your GY.
- Link Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess using Scrap Wyvern , Chimera and Giant Rex .
- Synchro Borreload Savage Dragon with Scrap Raptor and Souleating Oviraptor , and equip Scrap Wyvern from GY to Borreload Savage Dragon when it is summoned.
- Use the Double Evolution Pill by banishing Rex and Chimera to summon Ultimate Conductor Tyranno
- Because it has been banished, Special summon Giant Rex back to the field with its effect. Now overlay Giant Rex and final Raptor to Evolzar Laggia (or any other rank 4)
Final words
If in Duel Links, the deck seems quite heavy and has plenty of slots, but in Master Duel, Dinos has really earned his place and doesn't worry too much about being too heavy with the number of cards in the Deck. This is really a deck worth investing in if the banlist doesn't ban Miscel in the future (a matter of time :v). But at the end of the day, I hope you have a great time building this deck.
