Instructions for building and playing Drytron

Instructions for building and playing Drytron

This will be a guide to your favorite line - Drytron. A line of cards that is immortal if played first and also destroys the field very annoyingly if played later!

overview

Drytron is a tactical deck based on Ritual summoning, single-handedly bringing old Ritual archetypes to the top of the meta. In the TCG, Drytron reigns supreme across several formats. In Master Duel, this is still true. Drytrons is a high-skill, high-combo combo deck that relies on tribute cards in their archetype, or Ritual Monsters to Special Summon themselves from the hand or GY. The archetype contains powerful Ritual monsters, but works best when combined with the “Herald” and “Cyber Angel” archetypes.

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned with the effect of a "Drytron" card. You can Tribute 1 other "Drytron" monster, or 1 Ritual Monster, from your hand or field; Special Summon this card from your hand or GY in Defense Position, then you can add 1 Ritual Spell from your Deck to your hand. You cannot Special Summon monsters, except monsters that cannot be Normal Summoned/Set, the turn you activate this effect. You can only use this effect of "Drytron Zeta Aldhibah" once per turn.

You can Tribute 1 other "Drytron" monster, or 1 Ritual Monster, from your hand or field; Special Summon this card from your hand or GY in Defense Position, then you can add 1 Ritual Monster from your Deck to your hand. You cannot Special Summon monsters, except monsters that cannot be Normal Summoned/Set, the turn you activate this effect. You can only use this effect of "Drytron Alpha Thuban" once per turn.

Alpha and Zeta are the heart of the Drytron strategy, and therefore must use up to 3 copies per Deck. Alpha, when Special Summoned by its own effect, will search ANY Ritual Monster in your Main Deck. Likewise, Zeta searches for any Ritual Spell, however, you will most likely search your Meteonis Drytron from that effect. Any variation of Drytron's "ideal" opening turn will contain some combo of these two cards or some way to get them.

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned with the effect of a "Drytron" card. You can Tribute 1 other "Drytron" monster, or 1 Ritual Monster, from your hand or field; Special Summon this card from your hand or GY in Defense Position, then you can Special Summon 1 "Drytron" monster with 2000 ATK from your GY, except "Drytron Gamma Eltanin". You cannot Special Summon monsters, except monsters that cannot be Normal Summoned/Set, the turn you activate this effect. You can only use this effect of "Drytron Gamma Eltanin" once per turn.

Gamma is the piece to your important recycling puzzle. When Special Summoned via its own effect, Gamma will summon any other Drytron monster from your GY. We strongly recommend avoiding using Gamma until Herald of Ultimateness is on the field, keeping it as a return option in case of a breakdown like Nibiru, the Primal Being .

Some Drytron players disagree on how many copies of Gamma to play in the main deck. However, to maximize prototype consistency and ensure a sufficient number of Drytron names, 3 Gamma is a safe bet.

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned with the effect of a "Drytron" card. You can Tribute 1 other "Drytron" monster, or 1 Ritual Monster, from your hand or field; Special Summon this card from your hand or GY in Defense Position, then you can reveal 1 Ritual Monster or 1 Ritual Spell in your hand, and if you do, draw 1 card. You cannot Special Summon monsters, except monsters that cannot be Normal Summoned/Set, the turn you activate this effect. You can only use this effect of "Drytron Delta Altais" once per turn.

Delta is the final piece of the “Core Four” Drytron puzzle played in competitive builds. When Special Summoned via its own effect, you can reveal a Ritual or Spell Monster in your hand to draw an additional card. Despite arguably having the weakest effect of the said “Core Four”, Delta is an important sacrifice card for cards like Cyber Angel Benten and can sometimes give you the perfect card from the deck in its single draw.

Since it is the weakest of the "Core Four", you don't need to use more than two.

Special Summon 1 "Drytron" monster from your Deck, but destroy it during the End Phase. You can only activate 1 "Drytron Nova" per turn. You cannot Special Summon monsters, except monsters that cannot be Normal Summoned/Set, the turn you activate this card.

Drytron Nova is an Emergency Teleport of the archetype, giving you access to any Drytron in your Deck. One of the three mandatory cards, Nova is by far one of the strongest supports the Deck has access to. Combine it with a Linkuriboh in your Extra Deck to ensure you can activate any effect you need.

This card is also your main chance to get rid of annoying Monsters like Inspector Boarder (Summon anyone at the ATK position, and pounce), or Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess (trigger a negate). , attack it).

This card can be used to Ritual Summon any Ritual Monster from your hand or GY. You must also Tribute Machine monsters from your hand or field whose total ATK equal or exceed the ATK of the Ritual Monster you Ritual Summon. If this card is in your GY: You can target 1 "Drytron" monster you control; it loses exactly 1000 ATK until the end of your opponent's turn, and if it does, add this card to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Meteonis Drytron" once per turn.

Meteonis Drytron is by far one of the greatest Ritual Spells ever printed. Contrary to traditional Ritual Spells, Meteonis Drytron uses the Machine monster's ATK points to Summon Ritual from your hand AND GY. For additional damage, Meteonis can reduce the ATK of any Drytron you control to increase itself from GY to hand. This ensures you have at least 2 ritual summons per turn.

Professional Drytron players will make the most of this powerful Spell card by using non-traditional materials, such as AA-Zeus after its effect occurs.

Although it may be tempting, you should only play 1 copy of Meteonis Drytron , as it is searchable through Drytron Zeta Aldhibah . Furthermore it is too much to brick.

Add 1 LIGHT Machine monster that cannot be Normal Summoned/Set, or 1 "Cyber Dragon" monster, from your Deck to your hand. If the activation of this card in its owner's possession was negated by your opponent's card effect and sent to your GY: You can discard 1 card; add this card to your hand. You can only activate 1 "Cyber Emergency" per turn.

Cyber Emergency essentially acts as a Reinforcement of the Army for the Deck, just add any Drytron to your hand. It explains itself why you'd want to play three copies of it, there's no real downside to it, and it's a huge consistency boost.

If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can send 1 Fairy monster from your Deck or Extra Deck to the GY, and if you do, increase this card's Level by that monster's Level, until the end of this turn. If this card is Tributed: You can Special Summon 1 Level 2 or lower Fairy monster from your hand or Deck, except "Diviner of the Herald". You can only use each effect of "Diviner of the Herald" once per turn.

Diviner is the main Normal summon. Serving multiple purposes, Diviner can send Herald of the Arc Light to search for any Ritual or Spell Monster, and can send Elder Entity N'tss to destroy any card on the field. Additionally, Diviner gains the Level of any card it sends. More often than not, Diviner will become Level 6, allowing you to overlay it with Benten to summon Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal . This gives you access to additional Drytrons, or Evas.

You can Ritual Summon this card with "Oracle of the Herald". Must be Ritual Summoned, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. During either player's turn, when your opponent would Special Summon a monster(s), OR activates a Spell Card, Trap Card, or monster effect: You can send 1 Fairy-Type monster from your hand to the Graveyard; negate the Special Summon or activation, and if you do, destroy that card.

Look no further for the perfect, comprehensive boss for the Drytron strategy - Ultimateness negates ANY Special Summon or activates card effects. Fueled by your Fairies, search from Cyber Angel Benten and summon from Meteonis Drytron - Ultimateness is the one-handed card that makes Drytron's final deck extremely dangerous.

You can Ritual Summon this card with "Machine Angel Ritual". If this card destroys a monster by battle and sends it to the GY: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to that monster's original DEF in the GY. If this card is Tributed: You can add 1 LIGHT Fairy monster from your Deck to your hand.

In TCG, Benten is on the Banlist. This is for good reason, as Benten does not once per turn and search ANY LIGHT Fary Monster in your Deck when Tributed. She is the person you will almost always look to for your Alpha Thuban.

Newly banned in the YuGiOh TCG, Eva allows you to refuel your Herald of Ultimateness with Fairies to negate any and all of your opponent's cards and effects. Its most common use is from Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal , finding the Diviner of the Herald and the Herald of Orange Light in the process.

        Tag(s):

An absolutely crucial card when it comes to playing through handtraps in Drytron. Herald of Orange Light not only powers your Ultimateness but also serves another powerful use in its own effect, discarding yourself and other Fairies to negate any card on the field. This will be your main way to keep yourself safe from handtraps that can blow the Deck into the water, such as Nibiru, Primal Being , Maxx "C" and Droll & Lock Bird

2+ Level 1 monsters When you Ritual Summon, you can detach a material(s) from this card as monster(s) required for the Ritual Summon. You can only use each of the following effects of "Drytron Mu Beta Fafnir" once per turn. If this card is Xyz Summoned: You can send 1 "Drytron" card from your Deck to the GY. When your opponent activates a Spell/Trap Card, while you control a Machine Ritual Monster (Quick Effect): You can detach 1 material from this card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card.

Mu Beta Fafnir is arguably one of the greatest supports for any Deck in the history of the game, and as such, it is the main key to Drytrons. Acting as the archetype's Foolish Burial , which Drytron greatly appreciates, it boasts an equally powerful second effect, essentially allowing you to Summon Ritual at no cost, a completely different concept. Complete breakthrough.

Additionally, Fafnir is also considered one of the Deck's biggest bottlenecks, meaning you'll have to watch out for negates and handtraps that will come your way when it hits the field.

If this card is sent to the GY: You can add 1 Ritual Monster or 1 Ritual Spell from your Deck to your hand.

While you won't be summoning it much, Herald of the Arc light is important due to its synergy with Diviner of the Herald , giving you very important searches. You can use one, but if you want your Diviner to give you 2 successive turns, it is highly recommended to use more than 1 copy

Once per turn: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 monster from your hand. If this card is sent to the GY: You can target 1 card on the field; destroy it. You can only Special Summon "Elder Entity N'tss(s)" once per turn.

This is another card that Diviner will often send. As mentioned before, N'tss can destroy any problem cards on the field when sent to the GY. It is an important part of removing blind spots, be it removing floodgates like There Can Be Only One , or removing monster effects.

2 Level 6 monsters / You can also Xyz Summon this card by sending 1 "Burning Abyss" monster from your hand to the Graveyard, then using 1 "Dante" monster you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) If Summoned this way, the following effect cannot be activated this turn. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; send 1 card from your Deck to the Graveyard. If this card in your possession is destroyed by your opponent's card (by battle or card effect) and sent to your Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 "Burning Abyss" monster from your Extra Deck, ignoring its Summoning conditions.

Gaining widespread popularity in Drytron following Diviner's release, Beatrice is the primary fuel for your Herald of Ultimateness , typically achieved by sending two copies of Eva to the GY, one on your turn and one opponent's copy, giving you four negates. However, this is not the only use for Beatrice, as it can also dispatch any Drytron in case you need to extend your turn, which is sometimes crucial.

If you equipped it from the Deck, you cannot Special Summon monsters with that Equip Card's name for the rest of this turn. You can only use this effect of "Union Carrier" once per turn.

Union Carrier strangely joined forces with Drytron. Being a Light Machine being able to equip itself to a Monster to increase it to 2000 ATK is extremely convenient, and leads to it being able to equip a lot of corrupt things, sometimes not even to itself. The main target to equip is usually Eva , which activates when the equipped Monster (usually the Carrier itself) leaves the field, finding 2 Fairies in the process. The second, very unorthodox objective, will equip B-Buster Drake with the Herald of Ultimateness , making Ultimateness immune to Spells and virtually invincible.

I:P is an important piece of the puzzle - allowing you to enter Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess , Knightmare Unicorn or even Underworld Goddess of the Closed World during your opponent's turn. Having different types of breaks is always important, and I:P fills that role neatly.

Natasha is an optional Fairy target with a POWERFUL effect. Once it is successfully Ritual Summoned, you can banish a Cyber Angel from your GY, usually Benten, to Summon it back and permanently CONTROL any Monster your opponent controls ! Natasha overpowers all problem cards on your opponent's field, and since it's not once per turn, you can do it up to 3 times per turn using all of your cards. Don't forget that each time you Summon it, you can gain LP equal to half the ATK of a monster you control, helping you even outpace your opponents.

You can only use this effect of "Drytron Meteonis Draconids" once per turn.

Said to be a big boss, it can certainly see itself as a tech option more than anything. Quite strong in both ability and attack, Draconids are most often used to play around Droll & Lock Bird , are considered easy to get out with a single search, and are the most powerful individual Ritual the Deck can be summoned. Use 1 according to preference.

You can Ritual Summon this card with a "Megalith" card. You can discard this card; Ritual Summon 1 "Megalith" Ritual Monster from your hand, by Tributing monsters from your hand or field whose total Levels equal or exceed its Level. If this card is Ritual Summoned: You can target cards your opponent controls, up to the number of Ritual Monsters with different names in your GY; destroy them. You can only use each effect of "Megalith Bethor" once per turn.

Since Drytron's release, this little Megalith package has been a popular niche engine for the archetype, abusing the extremely powerful effects of Megalith Phul and Ophiel to recycle Benten, put monsters on the field, and then Substitute with Megalith Bethor from your Deck to destroy your opponent's entire field on their turn.

2 Level 1 monsters Unaffected by other cards' effects. Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can detach 2 materials from this card; for the rest of this turn, this card cannot be destroyed by battle, also you take no battle damage from attacks involving this card.

A humorously cheap alternative that can help survive Droll & Lock Bird attacks, Fucho has the ability to render himself completely unable to move and indestructible for one turn, meaning you will always be able to stand still in case you can't do anything before Monster XYZ leaves the field. It is also a great target to turn into a Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder by attacking a Monster in a defensive position.

You can only use this effect of "Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring" once per turn.

Drytron has absolutely no room for handtraps ( Herald of Orange Light not included), meaning you'll have to go with just the most important one.

With Maxx "C" around, you don't really have a choice on this, you'll want to take 3 Ash Blossoms so you lose to it as little as possible, plus Ash of course is also the most versatile handtrap to go after , as it will always work against any deck.

                    Combo

Alpha + Zeta (4 Negate + I:P Masquerena becomes Knightmare Unicorn)

The main combo set of this Deck has as many ending stages and combo paths as possible, but it is best to introduce the simplest and easiest, the rest will be added in the update of the article Future.

                    Combos:

                    1. Activate Drytron Alpha Thuban , Tribute Drytron Zeta Aldhibah to Special Summon yourself, search Cyber Angel Benten
                    2. Activate Zeta Aldhibah in GY, Summon the newly searched Benten to summon himself, search Meteonis Drytron
                    3. Activate Benten in GY, search Diviner of the Herald
                    4. Overlay your two Drytrons into Drytron Mu Beta Fafnir and activate its effect, sending Drytron Gamma Eltanin
                    5. Normal Summon Diviner of Herald , send Herald of the Arc Light and turn Diviner to Level 6
                    6. Activate Herald of the Arc Light to search for Herald of Ultimateness
                    7. Activate your Meteonis Drytron , detach a material from Mu Beta Fafnir to Summon your Benten from the GY.
                    8. Activate Meteonis Drytron 's GY effect, causing Mu Beta Fafnir to lose 1000 ATK to add it back to your hand.
                    9. Overlay your level 6 Diviner and Benten into Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal
                    10. Use Beatrice's effect to split Diviner of the Herald to send Eva
                    11. Activate Eva 's effect, banishing Diviner and Herald of the Arc Light at the cost of searching for Herald of Orange Light and a new copy of Diviner.
                    12. Reactivate Meteonis Drytron , detaching your last material to Summon Herald of Ultimateness from hand. You now have 2 negates on the field.
                    13. Activate Gamma Eltanin in GY, sacrifice 1000 current ATK, Mu Beta has no materials to Summon itself and another Drytron from the Graveyard.
                    14. Create I:P Masquerena using the Gamma and Drytron you just Summoned.
                    15. On your opponent's turn, use Beatrice's effect again, sending a second copy of Eva and banishing your other Evas and Benten, searching for a third copy of Diviner and a second copy of Orange Light.

If you try to follow this combo step by step, with just two cards, you're looking at a field set I:P Masquerena and a Beatrice with no material to use as a body to link into Knightmare Unicorn , shuffle one card , a Herald of Ultimateness with 4 negates and, as a backup, you even have two copies of Herald of Orange Light in case your opponent has Dark Ruler No More or Forbidden Droplet , regardless they will have to play at least through 2 negates.
