Instructions for playing Dark Magician

Instructions for playing Dark Magician

Dark Magician, better known by the more familiar name "Black Witch", is the main monster of the character Yami Yugi (main character of the manga/anime series Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters).

Over time, monsters with effects are used more, causing vanilla monsters (normal monsters) to gradually no longer have a place on the game stage. But for Dark Magician, every year the manufacturer adds new supports to this deck, helping the deck still have a place in the game.

Dark Magical Circle, when activated, can help you find 1 more Dark Magician or 1 spell/trap that mentions a Dark Magician monster from the 3 cards at the top of the deck. The second effect of Dark Magical Circle allows you to remove 1 card on your opponent's field (with target).

Eternal Soul

Eternal Soul is an eternal trap card. Each turn you can special summon 1 Dark Magician from your hand or grave to the field. Additionally, your Dark Magician will not be affected by the effects of your opponent's cards. In return, if the flipped Eternal Soul on the field leaves the field, all of your monsters will be destroyed.

Magicians' Souls

Magicians' Souls adds support to the deck with the ability to summon the main monster Dark Magician plus the advantage of sending monsters from the deck to the grave as the cost of this card's effect.

Magicians' Souls' on-field effects help you filter cards in your hand, throw away excess trap spells, or make it easier for them to use graveyard effects.

Soul Servant (Play 3)

Soul Servant

Soul Servant will help you place 1 Dark Magician or 1 card containing the keyword Dark Magician/Dark Magician Girl in the text from the deck, hand or grave to the top of the pile. This effect can be combined with Dark Magical Circle to help you get the desired card into your hand sooner.

You can also actively take the card you have placed there with Soul Servant 's second effect. The condition is that you must have a monster of the Palladium or Dark Magician or Dark Magician Girl archetype on the field or grave. By discarding this card from the grave (cost), you can draw 1 card for each other monster. The names of the monsters were mentioned earlier.

The Eye of Timaeus is a card with a very special fusion summon using only 1 Dark Magician monster. This is a card that cannot interact with most of the effects of other support cards in the Dark Magician deck, so you can almost only use this card through card drawing.

Destined Rivals and Magician Navigation can be easily pulled from the deck thanks to Dark Magician's many supports.

Magicians' Combination and Magician's Salvation are two cards that support the strategies of Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl .

Secrets of Dark Magic can be used to summon fusions or summon rituals during the opponent's turn and is also very easy to get into your hand when used in the Dark Magician deck.

The deck's gameplay is very simple

The Dark Magician deck has a different way of combining effects than most other decks today. Instead of the cards being linked together through the common part on the card name frame (which is the archetype name), these cards support each other through the card text box below.

More specifically, these cards will refer to the Dark Magician monster itself in the card text (main monster).

You also need to clearly distinguish between cards that refer to Dark Magician monsters themselves or cards that only refer to monsters of the Dark Magician card race.

The card that is different from the rest of the set is The Eye of Timaeus , in the text of this card it requires targeting 1 “Dark Magician” monster which means you can target both Dark Magician or Dark Magician Girl , not just Dark Magician monster. Because of this, most of the other cards that support this deck cannot interact with The Eye of Timaeus .

Another example to help you visualize more easily, in the text of the Dark Magician Girl monster, this monster gains 300 ATK for each Dark Magician in the graveyard . The text only says "Dark Magician" and not "Dark Magician". The monster is referring to the original Dark Magician monster. If there are Dark Magician Girls in the grave, Dark Magician Girls on the field will not increase ATK for them. each of these monsters.

The deck's long-term strategy is to use two cards, Dark Magical Circle and Eternal Soul . During your opponent's turn, you can use Eternal Soul 's effect to summon Dark Magician (usually from the Graveyard) back to the field, then use Dark Magical Circle 's effect to target and discard 1 of their cards. enemy.

With the gameplay revolving around a normal monster and the spells/traps of the Dark Magician deck, Skill Drain seems to be not a bad choice for the deck.
