Instructions for playing and building Bystial Thunder Dragon

Instructions for playing and building Bystial Thunder Dragon

Bystial just launched in the game and we already have the tools to fight Tears + upgraded banish decks! The most typical and familiar to veteran Duelists - Bystial Thunder Dragon!!!

overview

Thunder Dragons uses a mid-range strategy using Thunder Dragon Colossus to slow down opponents with the help of other secondary engines and/or techs, helping you maximize the value of your cards in the following turns, or go to turn 3 OTK or grind further.

BUT TD has 2 main problems , one is the lack of consistency and the other is that the engine is too cumbersome because it depends on at least 2 card combos.

And we finally have the answer - Bystials . This engine will help with both: reducing the amount of ThunDra engine you need to cast and being a level 6 monster, allowing you to XYZ Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal , allowing you to send Thunder Dragondark or Thunder Dragonroar from the deck into the GY.

Bystials also enhances your Deck by giving you the option to banish LIGHT and DARK monsters from 2 players' Gy, allowing you to disrupt your opponent or activate the effect of your ThunDras, while also taking advantage of effect once per turn of ThunDras during their turn.

Bystial Lubellion gives you access to Branded Regained and Branded Beast , which are great tools to manipulate the game situation and make your grind more powerful.

Thunder Dragon Core

Thunder Dragon (3x)
R rarity
Thunder Dragon
R rarity
Thunder Dragon

Supplies to discard for TD boss effects, easy access to Colossus, diverse GY targets for Bystials

Small combo with Bystial:
  1. Discard, click eff to get 1 or 2 Thunder Dragon
  2. Activate the eff of any Bystial => banish the Thunder Dragon just sent below GY => summon that Bystial to the field
  3. Tribute any Thunder Dragon (can be the one you just searched for) with the Bystial you just sum up
  4. Sum Colossus

Thunder Dragondark (3x)

Searcher, trigger for Titan , and a great GY target for Bystials.

Thunder Dragonroar (2x)

Recycle, 2nd searcher and 1 level 6 can easily enter Beatrice. The abilities are also quite diverse for you to take advantage of in appropriate situations. However, you shouldn't carry too much because it's easy to brick :D Actually, even though there is Bystials, there are still deadhand situations thanks to it...

Thunder Dragonhawk (1x)
SR rarity
Thunder Dragonhawk
SR rarity
Thunder Dragonhawk

Recycle 1 body, reset hand and also be level 6 to enter Beatrice. This one can use the 1st effect which is good, the 2nd eff is up to your own luck :D But the best ratio in the Deck should still be 1 copy.

Thunder Dragon Fusion (1-2x)
SR rarity
Thunder Dragon Fusion

Thunder Dragon Fusion

Fusion Spell is recyclable, searchable and is itself a GY/Banish searcher. However, using it helps us have a turn of play with a variety of ways to deal with it (although TD bosses can summon themselves without Spell), or it can help us have a slot to add good Techs!

Batteryman Solar (3x)
UR rarity

Batteryman Solar

Although it is not an archetype, almost every Thunder Deck type uses it: it can trigger TD's effects and create conditions to trigger Bystial's effects.

If there is a situation where you get hit by Ash, this card is a good body to replace with Colossus and create a pile of Tokens on the field.

Allure of Darkness (3x)

Also not part of the archetype but is the Draw Engine of this Deck in almost every version. The good thing is that you will never worry about getting bricked with this card (in this version) : D

Bystial Core

There's only so much Bystial you can put in there :D Actually, this section is for newbies to refer to their usage rate in the Deck...

The Bystial Lubellion (3x)

Must have 3 cards: Searcher for almost all Bystials, summon in a variety of ways (whether it's a friendly monster or an opp monster, whether it's a GY or in your hand)

Bystial Saronir

Saronir helps obtain Lubellion and Branded Regained through sending to GY. Easiest to use, through many ways (discard, detach from Xyz, post from Deck,...)

Druiswurm can remove a specially summoned monster if it passes from the field to the GY. One example to use that effect is through Branded Beast

Baldrake requires more monsters on the field and can be broken more easily. It is inferior to Duriswurm because you cannot use it to remove monsters that your opponent has previously summoned, but in return if you have good timing it can be used.

Branded Beast

  • Regained : as the name suggests, it will help you recycle (either on the field or back to the Deck) and get 1 turn to draw cards every time a LIGHT or DARK is banned.
  • Beast : A way for you to bombard opp's field as well as combine it with Lubellion to play Regained from below GY.

Chaos Engine

Chaos is a must- have Engine line in every Deck that uses LIGHT & DARK as the main theme and helps your Deck run smoother.

The idea here is that you will want to have an element that can activate the Thunder Dragon's banish effect and take full advantage of it to bring the boss to the field or simply extend your combo a bit.

Since the new Selection Pack, every family wants to play Branded:
  • Pros: Diverse bosses, easy to search and access, suitable for TDra due to many effects related to banish
  • Cons: Locked to Fusion => does not give you access to other diverse plays, something that can be beneficial and harmful depending on the situation you are in

The good thing about Veiler is that in addition to the fact that it is a fairly stable handtrap, its attribute is LIGHT, which means it can be used as a material for Bystial as well as Bystial can help it avoid Called .

Garura entered the game with great anticipation to break Floo's field, and so on (mainly to hold Floo back :D). It is also possible to create Beatrice (lvl 6) and get an additional +1 draw from Garura.

You can also use this set of 3, but in my opinion , it depends on the situation you need to use , because you will have Bystial in your Deck, but the thing you are most afraid of is the situation where opp will not have monsters in the GY or they use attributes. otherwise, then you won't be able to do anything but can only rely on TDra, which will slow down your time to victory :D

I wish Colossus could be released a little more but this is really a necessary boss for TDra:

  • Easy to summon => Good trigger

Thunder Dragon Titan (2x)

Normally rate 2 is enough for Titan: Big damage, continuous bombardment with Thunder activated from hand, invincibility at the cost of banishing 2 cards in GY. That's it, there's no negate, this card combined with Discharge above is the end of the sauce :3

Beatrice Lady of the Eternal (x1)

A small engine for you to access information about opp's Deck, easily available to trigger TDra's eff. Combo lines can be as follows:
  1. Xyz to Atum uses 2 level 6
  2. Atum sum 1 Dragon can search for other Dragons, for example using Omni
  3. Omni search 1 Dragon in hand (similar to other Dragons)
  4. Special Summon Trishula = Omni, Dragon just searched and Atum
  5. Trishula activates eff: banish 1 TDra (roar or dark), banish 1 card from the top of opp's Deck and 1 card from opp's Extra Deck

Combo

The Deck's essential goal is to get Colossus on the field to gain other advantages: lock hands, bring bosses to the field, put handtraps on the hand, have other disruptive methods, etc.

The secondary goal is to get the Branded Beast onto the field to gain more advantage in clearing the field and drawing power.

NOTE :
  • Bystials are the best way to avoid handtraps and the Deck's blockchain: the best option is to CL1 TRa first and then immediately CL2 Bystial
  • The deck is neither strong nor weak, but if you know how to preserve resources , you will become stronger in the future
    • If there is only Bystial in your hand, it is still safest to find a way to send monsters to the GY and wait until the next turn to manage with what opp has (avoid losing important resources).
    • Always prioritize Hawk 's eff to sum TDra from the banish part first and then go to the GY part
    • Always clean resources first and then use Fusion to optimize interruptions
    • Try not to banish or recycle all of Dark because sometimes you will need it to optimize your turn

The Bystial Lubellion

This combo will show the necessity of Solar in hand, as its relationship with TDra is quite correlated and supports Bystial: bringing Colossus , Branded Beast and taking advantage of Hawk 's hand reset ability.
Hand: Solar + Lubellion
  1. Normal Solar => Send Roar to GY
  2. Discard Lubellion => search Magnamhut
  3. Special Magnamhut => Banish Roar
  4. Roar activates eff => Magnamhut activates eff => search Bystial End Turn => Roar brings Dark to the field
  5. Solar spawns 1 Token
  6. Special Lubellion from GY by sacrificing Magnamhut
  7. Lubellion brings Beast onto the field
  8. Cross-Sheep summon link = Dark and Token
  9. Dark put Hawk in his hand
  10. Click on Hawk => bring Roar back to the field
  11. Special Colossus = Solar (put it in the middle box so Cross-Sheep is pointed at)
  12. Cross-Sheep activates eff => brings Solar back to the field
  13. Link Summon Apollousa = Cross-Sheep + Solar + Roar + (Lubellion)
  14. End Turn: search Druiswurm
Field setup: Colossus (locks hand), Apollousa (3-4 times negate), if you still keep Lubellion on the field, you have 1 body with 3000 DEF or target for Beast to shoot the field
Hand: Druiswurm is ready to wait for opp to summon 1 monster to activate eff => banish Hawk => take advantage of Hawk's ability to reset 3 deadhand cards in hand

One of your victory conditions is Titan Loop. With this combo you can reset goods, recycle goods until you get a winning move
Conditions: Thunder Dragon Fusion is required in GY
  1. Fusion banish => Roar on hand
  2. Roar eff => Fusion returns to hand
  3. Fusion eff => Titan comes onto the field
  4. Activate the discard eff of any TDra in hand => Titan shoots itself => Banish 2 TDras have not activated eff yet to take full advantage of their eff
Result: Loop will continue throughout the game over turns (unless they have a way to banish fusion) and it will also depend on the cards you have in hand to take advantage of Fusion's search eff (best is Solar = > Cross-Sheep => Link - 3)
