In the anime series Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V , Sylvio Sawatari is an important character and is known by the nickname "Sylvio the Trickster". He is a famous Duelist and part of the Dueling team "Lancers", formed to protect the world from the dangers of "Dimensions". Sylvio owns the Abyss Actor deck - including Dark Fiend Pendulum and Link monsters based on theater actors, their names are given after their roles on stage.
I'm quite impressed by the colorful design of this deck, and the gameplay is also very interesting, so... well, let's get down to business.

Tactics and gameplay
The Abyss Actor deck is a deck that primarily specializes in Pendulum Summon. Their biggest strength comes from constantly setting up the deck's gameplay. The play style revolves around Stealing your opponent's monsters, mass-popting the field, changing the effects of your monsters and forcing your opponent to destroy our backrow so we can then mass attack the field and OTK (One Turn Kill). However, the deck does not synergize well with other archetypes, as most of their important effects lock us into Abyss Actors.
With just 1 card combo, we can set up a field with Abyss Actor - Super Producer to play Abyss Playhouse - Fantastic Theater (field) , along with two Pendulum Summoned Abyss Actors, +1 Abyss Actor - Sassy Rookie on scale, and add any Abyss Scripts already set up on your field. If you're lucky, the deck can create a match with Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess with 3 Materials, plus an Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon , plus an Abyss Actor - Super Producer with a Pendulum Summoned Abyss Actor on the field.
There are two ways to play this deck: the first way is to build based on familiar handtrap cards, and the second way is to build specifically to go later, focusing on destroying the opponent's field and quickly OTK.
Core monster
Abyss Actor - Extras (x3)
Abyss Actor - Extras is the "BEST Starter" of the Deck and is a combo card.
If your opponent controls a monster, you can Special Summon from the Pendulum Zone.
Abyss Actor - Extras can then place any 1 Abyss Actor card from your Deck into the Pendulum Zone, by tributeing this card as a cost. This means that you have limited summoning abilities and are only allowed to summon "Abyss Actor".
One of the main combos is to place Abyss Actor - Curtain Raiser in the Pendulum Zone, then summon it and regain Abyss Actor - Extras from the Extra Deck to your hand with Abyss Actor - Curtain Raiser 's Monster Eff.
Abyss Actor - Curtain Raiser (x3)
As the name of this card suggests, he is the opening act of the show and one of the Deck's Starters. Often used with other Pendulums to quickly summon Heavymetalfoes Electrumite .
Abyss Actor - Curtain Raiser can Special Summon himself from the Pendulum zone once per battle (, if you have no monsters on the field). If this card is on the field alone, you will increase ATK by 1,100 points for this card.
This card's other Eff monster can throw any Abyss Script (spell) from the Deck to the Graveyard, to reuse an Abyss Actor from the Extra Deck in the hand, and this Eff is Soft One per turn. This card creates a combo chain, helping to thin the deck while still leaving an open way to bring in Abyss Script with Abyss Script - Abysstainment or with Abyss Actor - Superstar's Pendulum eff.
Abyss Actor - Mellow Madonna (x2-x3)
Abyss Actor - Mellow Madonna is a scale card of the deck, with the ability to search for any Abyss Actor for a cost of 1,000 LP. Be careful, because after you use this effect, you will no longer be able to Link Summon Abyss Actor - Hyper Director or Abyss Actor – Super Producer .
Believe it or not, you won't actually want to draw this card in your first hand, instead you will place this card in the Pendulum zone with the effect of Abyss Actor - Hyper Director . This allows us to pre-Summon Abyss Actor - Super Producer , without having to worry about being locked out of summoning our Link monsters.
Furthermore, for this card's effect monsters:
- We can Special summon it when a Pendulum is destroyed in battle.
- If an Abyss Script is activated, she can Summon an Abyss Actor from the deck, but it returns to hand during Endphase. This can facilitate further expansion without locking yourself out.
Abyss Actor - Mellow Madonna also increases her own ATK by 100 points for each Abyss Script in the Graveyard.
Abyss Actor - Superstar (x2-3)
Pendulum effect of Abyss Actor - Superstar helps us get back Abyss Script cards by tribute Abyss Actors.
When summoned, our Superstar will prevent Spell/trap or even Card effects from being activated. However, he will still be negate summoned if he encounters something like Solemn Judgment :v
The last effect is also the most important, this card helps us connect to the Abyss Script spell pile by placing any Abyss Script card from the Deck face down on the field. Because it was a Set in the field (not added to the hand), Xuan could only sit and watch helplessly.
Abyss Actor - Wild Hope (x3)
Abyss Actor - Wild Hope is a Core part of the deck. Its Pendulum effect can turn another Abyss Actor into Scale 9, however you will be limited to summoning it during the turn you use this effect and this is one of the different ways you can summon Abyss Actor - Evil Heels .
Abyss Actor - Wild Hope can search any Abyss Actor card (not just monsters) after being destroyed in battle or card effects. With different ways to destroy this card, we can search for any missing pieces we need or to be able to prepare for the next turn. Its other monster effect can increase own ATK by 100 points for each Abyss Actor with a different name.
Abyss Actor - Comic Relief (x2-3)
This guy's antics will entertain the crowd, keeping them laughing for hours with ease.
Abyss Actor - Comic Relief is one of the cards that activates Abyss Script's side effects, and its Pendulum effect can permanently steal an opponent's monster by exchanging it with any Abyss Actor.
During your Standby Phase, you can show this card to your opponent. This works with its other effect: if control of this card is altered, it can destroy an Abyss Script placed from its owner's backrow, activating the Abyss Script's secondary effect. If you don't want to wait a full turn for this, Abyss Actor - Comic Relief's own Pendulum effect will make it happen instantly!
Abyss Actor - Sassy Rookie (x0-1)
A mischievous rookie on the performance team, he is very good at performing physical moves and taking hits.
Abyss Actor - Sassy Rookie is part of the final combo. The sole purpose of this card is to be placed into the Pendulum Zone by the effect of Abyss Actor – Super Produce r, to provide protection or the ability to destroy a level 4 or lower monster during your opponent's turn.
If he actually appears in the Monster zone, he can protect himself once and then have a floating effect (but only from battle or opponent's eff cards) to Special Summon any level 4 Abyss Actor or any lower from the deck.
Abyss Actor - Funky Comedian (x0-1)
Abyss Actor's Pendulum effect - Funky Comedian can increase the ATK of any Abyss Actor by sacrificing an Abyss Actor.
Its monster effect: when summoned, can increase its own ATK by 300 points for each Abyss Actor on the field. It can then transfer its ATK to another Abyss Actor at the cost of not being able to attack that turn.
Both of Abyss Actor - Funky Comedian's effects are reasonable ways to help an Abyss Actor overcome an opponent's Atk monster, or simply deal a lot of damage.
Abyss Actor - Hyper Director (x2-3)
Is the heart of the Deck. As the game initiator, Abyss Actor - Hyper Director can Special Summon any card from the Pendulum, then replace it with an Abyss Actor with a different name from the Deck or Extra Deck, of course will be locked to summon with Abyss Actor .
Normally, you would place Abyss Actor - Mellow Madonna in the Pendulum zone, but remember to do all the usual moves and Summon Link into Abyss Actor - Super Producer before activating the Pendulum effect of Abyss Actor - Mellow Madonna !
Abyss Actor - Super Producer (x2-3)
If Abyss Actor - Hyper Director is the heart, then this is the Soul of the Deck. This is one of Abyss Actor's newest support cards, this guy can solve every problem the deck has ever encountered. Abyss Actor – Super Producer in Main Phase can activate as a quick effect: destroy any face-up card you control to do one of two things:
- Set an Abyss Playhouse - Fantastic Theater directly to your Field Zoen.
OR
- Place an Abyss Actor from your Deck into the Pendulum Zone.
Keeping the effect of Abyss Actor – Super Producer also helps you avoid Nibiru, the Primal Being !
Abyss Actor - Leading Lady (x0)
Spreading love to everyone, this girl is the idol that everyone wants to come see. 1 Truly professional actor
However, she is not needed in our line up in the deck. The ability to special summon 1 Abyss actor level 1 or 8 from Extra is not too useful.
So Leading Lady has to take a break behind the scenes and leave the stage to someone else :((
Spell/Trap
Abyss Playhouse - Fantastic Theater (x1)
This is our stage where the performance begins!! Abyss Playhouse - Fantastic Theater has often been difficult to set up in the past, but with the addition of Abyss Actor - Super Producer , you can bring this card out easier than ever. It has a very useful bonus effect which is to reveal an Abyss actor or an Abyss script to search for an Abyss Script card with a different name.
One of the most important effects of this card: when you control 1 Pendulum summon Abyss Actor , you can replace 1 activated effect monster with "destroy 1 of your opponent's Spell/Trap set cards". This means it will help us activate the side effects of Abyss Scripts or even Waking the Dragon . Even if we don't have spells/traps on the field, the effect will still be activated and the opponent will not benefit.
- Both the search effect and the ability to replace monster effects are Hard One per turn, in addition the replacement effect is required
Abyss Script - Opening Ceremony (x0-1)
Abyss Cript - Opening Ceremony can restore 500 LP for each Abyss Actor on the field, and it can easily be used to trigger the effect of Mellow Madonna free summon from the deck.

Abyss Actors' Dress Rehearsal (x3)
The best searcher that every Deck needs, activating Abyss Actor's Dress Rehearsal means you get +1 double search. It can search any Abyss Actor card (including itself) and an Abyss Script. Please pay attention to its conditions: Can only be used at the beginning of Main Phase 1 and can only Pendulum summon Abyss Actor
Depending on the situation, you will usually search for Abyss Actor - Wild Hope or Curtain Raiser or Extras , along with Abyss Script - Dramatic Story .

Heavymetalfoes Electrumite and Beyond the Pendulum (Stick to the gameplay!)
- Beyond the Pendulum is a good additional card for Pendulum-oriented decks, helping you find any Pendulum monster at a cost of 1,200 LP. But please note that after using this effect, your monster and pendulum effect will be disabled until you Pendulum summon . So just remember to Link directly to this card before you Pendulum summon.
