Tactical Masters launches, giving players 3 decks with 3 unique gameplay styles never seen before. In this article, I will share with you the Runick deck with a strategy that only revolves around magic cards.
Instructions for playing Runick
Sections covered in this guide:
Deck overview
Runick is one of three archetypes released in the Tactical Masters box. The deck has a very unique gameplay compared to the other decks. Runick's gameplay and way of winning rely on the ability to mill (remove cards on top of the top deck), planing the opponent's deck resources. until they don't have anything left to play with.
Deck overview:
- Main monster card type: Fusion.
- Main type of card in main deck: Spell card.
- It's almost like the strategy doesn't have a battle phase.
- Magic cards can be activated from the hand during your opponent's turn.
- Monsters from the extra deck can be summoned without fusion effects.
- Can restore grave resources and draw a lot of cards.
- There are many effects that banish cards.
Core deck
Runick Tip (Key)
Runick Tip
Activate 1 of these effects, but skip your next Battle Phase after activation; ● Add 1 "Runick" card from your Deck to your hand, except "Runick Tip", then banish the top card of your opponent's Deck. ● Special Summon 1 "Runick" monster from your Extra Deck to the Extra Monster Zone. You can only activate 1 "Runick Tip" per turn.
In each current archetype of the game, having a searcher support is extremely important to help the deck have more connection between the cards in the deck and maintain the stability of the deck.
Runick Tip helps you get 1 Runick card from your deck into your hand, then remove 1 card from your opponent's top deck.
Talking about Runick cards, the Runick cards in the main deck are all spell cards. Each archetype's quick-play spell card carries two effects:
- The unique effect of that card and the accompanying effect of removing cards from the opponent's top deck.
- This effect allows you to special summon 1 Runick monster from the extra deck to the extra monster zone.
You can only activate 1 card of the same name in the same turn.
Due to providing 2 effects in the same card, Runick quick-play spell cards are rarely discarded when drawn to the hand. You can flexibly use these cards to summon 1 Runick monster from the extra deck in case you cannot use their own effects, as well as help your field have 1 more turret monster.
One important thing when you use Runick cards is that you must skip your next battle phase. This makes it difficult for the deck to use strong cards related to the battle phase such as Borrelsword Dragon, Zeus because you are forced to skip nearly 90% of the game's battle phase.
Runick Fountain (Key)
Runick Fountain
You can activate "Runick" Quick-Play Spell Cards from your hand during your opponent's turn. Once per turn, if you activate a "Runick" Quick-Play Spell Card: You can target up to 3 "Runick" Quick-Play Spells in your GY; place them on the bottom of your Deck in any order, then draw the same number of cards.
Runick Fountain is an environmental spell card of the archetype, this card allows you to use Runick's quick-play spell cards right from your hand during your opponent's turn without having to place them face down on the field first.
The remaining effect of Runick Fountain can be activated when you activate Runick's quick-play spell card, you can return up to 3 Runick quick-play spell cards from the grave (with target) to the bottom deck, then draw return the corresponding number of articles.
Overall, Runick Fountain is an extremely important card for Runick. First, this is an environment spell card, which gives you an empty slot for other trap spells because the environment spell card belongs to a different zone outside the spell/trap cards zone.
The advantage when Runick players can activate quick-play spells from their hand even during the opponent's turn helps the player no longer fear that previously set up cards will be destroyed by the opponent's back row hate.
Runick Fountain 's trigger effect helps the deck always have a stable resource source. Drawing up to 3 cards can increase the chance of strong staples and you don't have to worry about drawing back the cards that have been drawn. returns, and this withdrawal ability is something very few decks can do.
Furthermore, cards drawn by Runick Fountain can be used that turn thanks to Runick Fountain 's effect, and with each different Runick Fountain activated, you can reactivate the card's trigger effect. this article again.

2 "Runick" monsters If this card is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck: You can discard 1 card; add 1 "Runick" Field Spell from your Deck to your hand. If another card(s) you control would be destroyed by card effect, you can banish this card you control instead. If this card on the field is destroyed by battle or card effect: Return this card to the Extra Deck.
When Hugin is summoned from the extra deck, you can discard 1 card from your hand (cost) to add 1 Runick environmental spell from the deck to your hand. Runick Fountain is Hugin's only target currently.
Hugin can protect your other cards from being destroyed by card effects by removing this monster from the field. Hugin is an extremely necessary protection for your Runick Fountain .
However, to be able to protect other cards, Hugin needs to be a monster that is not affected by those spending effects. Or more easily understood, Hugin will not be able to protect your monsters from Raigeki because she herself will also be destroyed by Raigeki .
When Hugin is on the field and destroyed, this monster will automatically trigger effects and return to the extra deck. This is a mandatory trigger effect, so you will not be able to chain Hugin to protect your Runick Fountain .
Runick Allure (Key)
Runick Allure can increase the number of cards your opponent discards each turn by a significant amount. Every time a player activates a quick-play spell card, the player's opponent with Runick Allure must discard 1 card from their top deck.
Because there is no limit to the number of times an effect can be used per turn or in a chain, Runick Allure can trigger and remove a fair number of cards thanks to other Runick cards. Furthermore, this card can also trigger effects even when the opponent uses quick-play spells. In return, you can only get 1 Runick Allure on your side of the field.
Runick Allure is also a card with a mandatory effect, so you cannot use this card to chain after Runick Fountain .

2 "Runick" monsters If this card is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck: You can discard 1 card; add 1 "Runick" Continuous Spell from your Deck to your hand. When your opponent activates a card or effect that targets a "Runick" card(s) you control or a Set card(s) you control (Quick Effect): You can banish this card you control; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card. Once per turn, during the End Phase: Gain 1000 LP.
When Munin is summoned from the extra deck, by discarding 1 card in your hand (cost), you can add 1 Runick permanent spell card from the deck to your hand. Currently, Runick Allure is Munin 's only target.
When a card or effect is activated that targets Runick cards or your face-down cards, you can remove Munin from the field to negate the activation and destroy them. This effect can be used to protect your cards from danger from cards that Hugin cannot protect such as Cosmic Cyclone , however that effect must have a target for Munin to be able to protect it. Okay.
At each end phase, you will gain 1000LP, a relative amount of LP that helps you survive through the opponent's battle phase.
Runick Freezing Curses, Runick Flashing Fire and Runick Destruction (Key)
Runick Freezing Curses
Activate 1 of these effects, but skip your next Battle Phase after activation; ● Target 1 Effect Monster your opponent controls; negate its effects (until the end of this turn), then banish the top 3 cards of your opponent's Deck. ● Special Summon 1 "Runick" monster from your Extra Deck to the Extra Monster Zone. You can only activate 1 "Runick Freezing Curses" per turn.
Runick Flashing Fire
Activate 1 of these effects, but skip your next Battle Phase after activation; ● Target 1 Special Summoned monster your opponent controls; destroy it, then banish the top 2 cards of your opponent's Deck. ● Special Summon 1 "Runick" monster from your Extra Deck to the Extra Monster Zone. You can only activate 1 "Runick Flashing Fire" per turn.
Runick Destruction
Activate 1 of these effects, but skip your next Battle Phase after activation; ● Target 1 Spell/Trap your opponent controls; destroy it, then banish the top 4 cards of your opponent's Deck. ● Special Summon 1 "Runick" monster from your Extra Deck to the Extra Monster Zone. You can only activate 1 "Runick Destruction" per turn.
Destruction , Freezing Curses and Flashing Fire are Runick's disruptions. These cards carry very common effects such as disabling monster effects and destroying monsters/spells/traps.
All 3 of these cards have targets and they can only target the opponent's cards, the limitation of only activating 1 card of the same name is not something too strange.
Runick Smiting Storm, Runick Golden Droplet and Runick Dispelling (Key)
Runick Smiting Storm
Activate 1 of these effects, but skip your next Battle Phase after activation; ● Banish cards from the top of your opponent's Deck, up to the number of cards they control. ● Special Summon 1 "Runick" monster from your Extra Deck to the Extra Monster Zone. You can only activate 1 "Runick Smiting Storm" per turn.
Runick Golden Droplet
Activate 1 of these effects, but skip your next Battle Phase after activation; ● Your opponent draws 1 card, then you banish the top 4 cards of their Deck. ● Special Summon 1 "Runick" monster from your Extra Deck to the Extra Monster Zone. You can only activate 1 "Runick Golden Droplet" per turn.
Runick Dispelling
Activate 1 of these effects, but skip your next Battle Phase after activation; ● If your opponent adds a card(s) from their Deck to their hand, except during the Draw Phase, discard 1 random card from their hand, then banish the top 2 cards of their Deck. ● Special Summon 1 "Runick" monster from your Extra Deck to the Extra Monster Zone. You can only activate 1 "Runick Dispelling" per turn.
Besides popular disruptions such as Destruction , Freezing Curses and Flashing Fire , Runick also has other cards with other unique effects that support Runick's gameplay.
Golden Droplet can remove 4 of the opponent's top deck cards, but in return they will be able to draw 1 additional card from before, this card can be used in combination with Dispelling .
Dispelling will force the opponent to discard 1 random card from their hand to the grave and discard 2 top deck cards. This is a quick-play spell card with Runick's activation conditions. Unlike other spell cards, Dispelling can only activate the above effect if the opponent takes the action of taking a card from the deck to the hand (other than draw phase).
Unlike the remaining Runick cards, Smiting Storm is a spell card that only has the effect of removing cards from the opponent's top deck without any accompanying side effects. This card will remove the largest number of cards. The top deck card is equal to the number of cards your opponent controls on the field. Smiting Storm does not require the player to discard an exact number of cards, but instead an arbitrary number. This is an advantage when this card always has a chance to successfully resolve the effect because the effect does not require a prior number of cards to be discarded.
Compared to Destruction , Freezing Curses , Flashing Fire , Golden Droplet , Dispelling and Smiting Storm are relatively passive and depend too much on the opponent. However, they are not completely discarded because each of these cards also has the effect of summoning a Runick monster from the extra deck, so these cards can always be activated.
Runick Slumber (Key)
Runick Slumber
Activate 1 of these effects, but skip your next Battle Phase after activation; ● Target 1 face-up monster on the field; the next time that monster would be destroyed by battle or card effect this turn, it is not destroyed, also it cannot attack this turn, then (after applying this effect) banish the top 3 cards of your opponent's Deck. ● Special Summon 1 "Runick" monster from your Extra Deck to the Extra Monster Zone. You can only activate 1 "Runick Slumber" per turn.
Runick Slumber is a different card because this card can affect monsters on both fields. By targeting 1 face-up monster on the field, this monster will not be destroyed once, however that monster will not be able to attack this turn, subsequently eliminating 3 of your opponent's top decks.
Runick Slumber can protect your floodgate monsters from destruction or the ability to make the opponent's monsters unable to attack is also a good way to play to prevent them from being able to summon Zeus (target monster). xyz).

2 "Runick" monsters When an attack is declared involving this card in the Extra Monster Zone: You can banish the top 2 cards of your opponent's Deck. If this card on the field is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can target 1 "Runick" Quick-Play Spell in your GY; add it to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Freki the Runick Fangs" once per turn.
Geri and Freki act as two defensive monsters of the deck as well as help Runick recover an additional amount of resources.
Staple
Bringing a new and different gameplay compared to most decks in the game, Runick's gameplay revolves around the act of continuously using spells. This also helps your deck building open up more strategic directions.

Inspector Boarder
ATK:
2000
DEF:
2000
Cannot be Normal or Special Summoned if you control a monster. Neither player can activate monster effects unless the number of monster effects that player has previously activated that turn is less than the number of monster card types currently on the field (Ritual, Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, Pendulum, and Link). (If an effect's activation was negated, it still counts toward the total for that turn. Only count effects that were activated while this monster was face-up on the field.)
Because there is no need to use a normal summon during the turn, Ipiria can be used in Runick as a deck thinning card. By normal summoning Ipiria , you can draw 1 additional card from the deck.
An advantage of this monster is that Ipiria will not become the target of negations (negating/disabling effects) coming from Ash Blossom , Effect Veiler , Infinite Impermanence . Of course, the above cards can be used against Ipiria , but disabling Ipiria 's ability doesn't bring much effect to the other side, so your ability to summon and use it successfully is not effective. Ipiria 's response is almost absolute.
Inspector Boarder will be a monster that causes a lot of discomfort to the opponent with 2000 attack power as well as the limited ability to activate Inspector Boarder 's monster effects.
Vanity's Fiend or Majesty's Fiend can be summoned by sacrificing summoned Runick monsters from the extra deck. At the same time, this sacrifice also helps empty your extra monster zone so that other Runick monsters can be summoned to the field (the effect of the Runick spell only allows you to summon Runick monsters from the extra deck to the extra monster). zone).
Mystic Mine
Mystic Mine
If your opponent controls more monsters than you do, your opponent cannot activate monster effects or declare an attack. If you control more monsters than your opponent does, you cannot activate monster effects or declare an attack. Once per turn, during the End Phase, if both players control the same number of monsters: Destroy this card.
Mystic Mine is well known for the discomfort this card brings and will be even more annoying when used with Runick.
Các lá bài hand trap
Infinite Impermanence
Target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; negate its effects (until the end of this turn), then, if this card was Set before activation and is on the field at resolution, for the rest of this turn all other Spell/Trap effects in this column are negated. If you control no cards, you can activate this card from your hand.

You can only use this effect of "Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring" once per turn.
Runick can probably be played without hand traps so you probably don't need to add them to your deck.
Các floodgate
Add a few other options that you might be interested in.
Các floodgate
Similar to hand traps, these floodgate cards do not have too much to say about them. Depending on the play style of the current meta decks, you can choose the appropriate floodgates for your deck.

Reasoning
Your opponent declares a monster Level from 1 to 12. Excavate cards from the top of your Deck until you excavate a monster that can be Normal Summoned/Set, then, if that monster is the same Level as the one declared by your opponent, send all excavated cards to the GY. If not, Special Summon the excavated monster, also send the remaining cards to the GY.
One Day of Peace can help your Dispelling reach its activation condition and you won't take damage until your next turn.
Upstart Goblin is not too strange for decks with less than 40 cards.
Reasoning helps you send dozens of spells to the grave and dig up monsters like Ipiria , Inspector Boarder , and Jowgen .

Triple Tactics Talent

You can only activate 1 "Triple Tactics Talent" per turn.
Engine
Runick cards do not have any summoning limits when they are used, which gives players many ways to mix and match their decks to their own style. I would like to introduce to you a few small engines to install into the deck.

Spellbook of Judgment
During the End Phase of the turn this card was activated, add "Spellbook" Spell Cards from your Deck to your hand, except "Spellbook of Judgment", up to the number of Spell Cards activated after this card's resolution, then, you can Special Summon from your Deck 1 Spellcaster-Type monster whose Level is less than or equal to the number of cards added to your hand by this effect. You can only activate 1 "Spellbook of Judgment" per turn.
Spellbook of the Master
If you control a Spellcaster-Type monster: You can reveal 1 other "Spellbook" card in your hand, then target 1 "Spellbook" Normal Spell Card in your Graveyard, except "Spellbook of the Master"; this card's effect becomes that target's effect. You can only activate 1 "Spellbook of the Master" per turn.
In TCG's October 2022 list, Spellbook of Judgment went from being banned to being used at a maximum of 1, which is a good sign for Spellbook. Runick also benefits from Spellbook of Judgment because the number of spell cards used in 1 turn of Runick is not small.

How to overcome it
Các cách anti Runick
Although it has an extremely annoying gameplay, Runick only shows one way to play: using magic cards and eliminating as many of the opponent's cards as possible. The main goal when confronting Runick is Runick Fountain , the second most important card in the strategy. Encouraging the opponent to use Runick Fountain can make it impossible for them to recover resources and slow down their strategy greatly.
Ghost Bell or Ash Blossom can block 1 use of the resource recovery effect from Runick Fountain 's grave. Ghost Ogre and Cosmic Cyclone can also solve this problem and be more thorough.
Anti-Spell Fragrance is always a fear of spell-heavy decks.
Eradicator Epidemic Virus can destroy a series of spells/traps for up to 3 turns. This card is only suitable for decks with DARK monsters and is relatively difficult to use because the sacrifice requirement of this card is a monster with ATK on par with a boss. Released in the same box as Runick, Labrynth is a deck that can make good use of the Eradicator Epidemic Virus .

Spell Canceller is a well-known monster because of the annoying ability it brings, but is rarely used because there is no optimal summoning method. Recently, this monster was reused in several Tearalaments deck lists, being able to revive Spell Canceller from the grave thanks to Number 60: Dugares the Timeless (a rank 4 generic monster). It is predicted that in the future at TCG this monster may appear in many other decks because the EARTH Fairy monsters of Exchange of the Spirits speed up the deck mining process even more than at present.
Besides focusing on breaking spell cards, you can also deal with Runick through your deck's winning ways. Chaos Hunter and Imperial Iron Wall are almost two cards that make Runick unable to breathe when most Runick cards, especially Runick Destruction , need to be discarded before they can be activated.
